Oil is the heart of every motor
Not only does oil act as a lubricant to the moving parts, oil cleans unwanted contaminants , and reduces engine temperature. Low oil levels can cause an engine to overheat, which can lead to critical engine components to fail. Regular oil changes can significantly change the overall health and longevity of a motor.
How often should i change my engine oil
Your everyday boater will put on average 100 hours on an engine every year.
Do I have to change my lower unit oil?
Yes! Your lower unit has to be sufficiently lubricated. The lower handles the forward and reverse engagement, as well as the continuous rotation of the driveshaft.
Do you have to start my engine to change oil?
Yes. in order to complete a proper oil service the engine has to fill the oil filter, supply the oil passages, and drain back to the oil pan. Once oil has drain back down to the oil pan we can check the proper oil level.
