FAQ

How often will I put 100 hours on my engine?

Your everyday boater will put on average 100 hours on an engine every year.

Can you replace lower unit oil with my boat in the water?

In order to replace lower unit fluids the engine will have to trim out of the water, or be out of the water.

Will my engine still work if I don't service on time?

Yes your engine will still run, however it is not recommended. Engine manufactures design their products with specific service times to ensure the product's longevity of internal engine components.

What's the difference between a 100  and 300 hour service?

For a 300 hour service the lower unit needs to be removed to replace the water pump impeller and grease the driveshaft.

Can you replace the impeller with my boat in the water?

In order to replace the impeller the engine will have to be out of the water. This requires a tech to remove the lower unit, stand the unit up right, and replace the impeller without scuffing or damaging the lower unit or drive components.

How important is it to replace my water pump impeller?

Very important! The water pump impeller is crucial in cooling the entire engine while running. Failure to replace an impeller can result in engine over heat, leading to possible engine failure.

Do I need to replace my zinc anodes?

It is highly suggested to inspect zincs every 300 hours and replace every 500. Zinc anodes reduce the corrosion to your engine caused by salt water acting as a "sacrificial metal".

How often do you replace an on-board water seperator?

We recommend to replace before every season or if  issues arise.

What is a VST filter?

A VST, vapor separator tank, removes vapors/air in the fuel system to supply the injectors. A VST filter removes contaminants before fuel enter the high pressure fuel pump.

How often should i change my engine oil

Your everyday boater will put on average 100 hours on an engine every year.

Do I have to change my lower unit oil?

Yes! Your lower unit has to be sufficiently lubricated. The lower handles the forward and reverse engagement, as well as the continuous rotation of the driveshaft.

Do you have to start my engine to change oil?

Yes. in order to complete a proper oil service the engine has to fill the oil filter, supply the oil passages, and drain back to the oil pan. Once oil has drain back down to the oil pan we can check the proper oil level.
